Can QB Simple Start run a report that breaks out my transactions by category, i.e., my chart of accounts. I use this to prepare for my taxes. I have spoken with 2 reps

Thanks for dropping by here in the Community. I can provide clarification about the data you need in QuickBooks.

The reports available in the Simple Start version is limited. Based on the details you provided, you'll need the Transaction Detail by Account report.

This is only available in the QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, and Advanced versions. You can see it under For my accountant in the Reports section.

Keep in mind, if you just purchased QBO Simple Start, the discounted rate will not applicable when upgrading to the higher plan. Consider cancelling your account and open a new blank QBO account instead.
