Can we migrate from QBO to QB Desktop?

Allow me to assist you in transferring your company file from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop, paul-gupta.

Before we begin, please review the following important information before exporting data files from your Online account to your Desktop:

  • QuickBooks Online is compatible with Windows 7's 32-bit Internet Explorer.
  • To use the export feature, you must be logged in as an Admin user in both QuickBooks Online and Desktop.
  • On the PC where you are performing the export, you must have a supported version of QuickBooks Desktop for Windows installed. For access to trial versions of the desktop program for export purposes, see QuickBooks Desktop trial links.

To get started let's set up your security settings through Internet Explorer. Here's how:

  1. Right-click the Internet Explorer icon and select Run as administrator.
  2. Go to the Gear icon, then Internet Options.
  3. Click Security, then Trusted sites.
  4. Select Sites.
  5. In the Add this website to the zone field, enter *.intuit.com.
  6. Make sure that require server verification (https: ) for all sites in this zone is unchecked.
  7. Close the Trusted Sites window.
  8. Make sure Enable Protected Mode is unchecked.
  9. Select Apply, then click Okay. Leave Internet Explorer open.

Then, download the software into your computer. Let me guide you on how:

  1. If you haven't already, download and install QuickBooks Desktop on your computer. If you don't have a license to QuickBooks Desktop, download the QuickBooks Desktop File Restoration Tool for this process.
  2. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Go to File and select Close Company. Leave QuickBooks Desktop open while you complete the rest of the steps.

Once done, follow Step 2 then to the next one to finish the process: Export your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop. If you no longer need QBO, you may cancel your plan.

Additionally, we can run a Balance Sheet and a Profit and Loss report to ensure that the numbers match. Make sure to set them on an Accrual basis for All Dates in both programs. Also, I'm including this additional article that will help you in converting your file: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to get back to me here in the Community space if you need further assistance with this matter. You can also post here again if you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns. It'll be my pleasure to cater to them again. Stay safe, and have a nice day!
