Can you help me add on a user so they can accept credit cards? it wont allow me to add this person

Hi there, coulaqbo.

Yes, I'll help you with adding a user so they can accept credit cards. You'll have to set the user as Standard so they can work with customers, sales, vendors, and expenses. However, since you confirmed that you aren't able to add another user, may I ask if you receive a specific error? I'd appreciate any further details so I can present an accurate solution.

If you're seeing a user limit message, it’s because QuickBooks Online has a maximum number of users depending on your subscription. Check out this link for additional information: What are usage limits in QuickBooks Online?.

Also, when adding a new user, you'll need to make sure that you log in to the QuickBooks account as the master or company administrator. Then, follow the steps below to start adding a user.

  1. Choose the Gear icon at the top, then select Manage Users.
  2. Click the Add user button on the right.
  3. Select which type of user you'd like them to be.
  4. Enter the new user's e-mail address and name.
  5. Hit Save.

If the issue persists, I'd suggest accessing your account via a private or incognito window to check if this is a browser-related issue. At times, data stored for a long period causes unusual behavior to the browser like, unable to add a user.

You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

If it works, then your main browser may have too much historical data from previously visited websites that cause this kind of behavior. Just go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. You can also use other supported, up-to-date browsers as an alternative.

Please refer to the articles below to see information about the different user types and their levels of access in QuickBooks Online. Then, steps on how you can delete or change a user.
