Converting from Desktop to Online

I have a new client that recently paid for the upgrade to 2019 Pro. I am wondering if they can instead convert to AB Online and be credited or have the cost rolled to the online cost instead? It would be much easier for everyone involved if they moved to online but having just paid for the newer software, they do not want to pay for another subscription.

Converting from Desktop to Online

Hi there, @alcrouse.

Thanks for joining the Community today. I'd be glad to help get you pointed in the right direction for assistance with converting your QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

You can cancel your QuickBooks Desktop and convert it into QuickBooks Online. However, in doing this process, you'll need to reach out to our Customer Care Team. This team is the best resource for such inquiries, as they have the necessary tools to pull up your account and help you with the conversion process. They'll also provide further details about your cost concern. This is to ensure that your information is in a secure space since the Community is a public place.

To reach them:

  1. In your browser, navigate to
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Click the issue or topic.
  4. Click the Green Phone button to see the support number.

This should guide you on the right track. You've got me here if there's anything else you need. I'll be around to help you out. Have a great day!
