correcting billable expenses

I am trying to clean up books. I want to make some accounts inactive. I cannot make some accounts inactive because it is linked to transactions that were incorrectly marked as billable expense. These expenses were not billable. There are thousands of transactions that date back to 2005. It is not feasible to edit these individually. If I take the approach of hiding these billable expenses which will mark them closed will this enable me to make the account inactive?

correcting billable expenses

I have another way to hide your billable status of transactions all at once, @Shannon2024.

It is possible to hide unbillable expenses in QBO and close them without generating an invoice.

Here's how:

  1. Replace the link on your QBO webpage address bar with this link: https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/managebillableexpense.
  2. Enter the beginning date of the transactions you'd like to remove the billable status.
  3. Click Save.

If you're still unable to inactivate an account, I recommend doing it manually to remove the billable status of the transactions. I would also suggest consulting an account to help you look for other options to do it.

To keep your financial records accurate, there are two methods to record bill payments in QuickBooks Online. Firstly, you can schedule an online payment if you haven't made the payment yet. Alternatively, you can also record the payment that you have already made using a check, cash, or credit card.

Don't hesitate to click the Reply button below if you need further assistance in making an account inactive. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.
