Corrupted Admin account

QB 19 Enterprise.

The built-in "Admin" account in one company file has become corrupted. QB posts unrecoverable errors frequently during operation, and always when the file is closed.

Other company files opened on the same computer with the same Windows user account work fine.

The problem file also works fine when opened on the same computer by the same Windows user under a different QB user account.

File Doctor couldn't find any problems.

I see articles describing how to transfer "Master Admin" from one account to another for QB Online. I don't see the same for Enterprise. How do we fix this?

Thanks for taking the time to post here and for letting us know what's going on, @JRVcr,

At the moment, we can't delete the Admin login in QuickBooks Desktop. However, since you have tried multiple troubleshooting for this and still getting the same problem, I recommend contacting our Technical Team this time.

Our representatives can diagnose the company file and provide additional troubleshooting to fix the issue. Depending on the severity of the problem, they also can get this escalated to our Data Services Team for a fix.

To get our Support, follow the steps below:

  1. Open QuickBooks and click the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. On the pop-up screen select Contact us.
  4. Click the Search for Something else button then type your concern in the Ask us anything box.
  5. Hit Search then scroll down to get your contact options.

Refer to this article to learn more about our contact options and support availability: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support

Kindly post an update here after calling our support. I want to make sure this is taken care of and I'll be right here if you need further help with anything in QuickBooks Desktop. Have a nice day!

The user reports she can now log on as Admin and it's stable. I don't know what changed, but I'll take it! So I guess we're good for now.

Thanks!

Welcome to the thread, @Guam Company.

I'd like to verify if you're able to perform some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue? If no, let's utilize the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub. This utility can help fix many common issues and errors with the desktop program.

Here's how:

  1. Close your QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop).
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  6. Select the Company File Issues tab.
  7. Hit QuickBooks File Doctor tool.

Once done, restart your computer and log in to your accounts again.

For more details about the process above, see this article: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

However, if the issue persists, you may need to contact our Technical Team. They have the tools to further check your account and provide additional troubleshooting to fix the issue. You can follow the steps provided by my colleague Jen_D to reach them.

Let me know if you need more help with your account by leaving a reply below. Take care and have a great rest of the day!

@TRMiddleton

Yes you should ask Data Service to evaluate your file. Otherwise you have to purchase a 3rd party service.

Thanks for following this thread, OptimumIT.

This isn’t the kind of experience I want for your clients. Allow me to share some details on how to fix the issue.

The unrecoverable error you encounter when logging in as admin is already reported to our engineers (INV-51943). They’re all hands on deck working for the permanent solution.

We recommend all affected users to contact our Technical Support Team. One of our agents will collect personal data to add your company to the list of affected users.

You’ll receive an email once there’s progress about the investigation. They’ll also guide you on how to apply the alternative solution to resolve the error.

To reach them:

  1. Click on the Help icon at the top menu bar to select QuickBooks Desktop Help F1.
  2. In the Have a Question window, scroll down to choose the Contact us link to open the Contact Us screen.
  3. Go to the Tell us more about your question section to enter the issue or topic in the field box.
  4. Tap the Search option to display the Get Phone Number or Start a Message button.

You can bookmark this article for future reference. It outlines the complete steps on how to resolve common unrecoverable errors: General Troubleshooting Steps.

I appreciate your patience while working on this. Feel free to post a comment if you have other QuickBooks concerns. I’ll get back to help and make sure you’re taken care of.
