I'll help you out, Aamir!

A bill is a transaction given by suppliers (vendors) that's why you can't see your list of customers when creating bills. However, there are cases when a customer is also a supplier, so what you can do is create a supplier profile for that customer.

When you create a supplier profile, be sure that it's slightly different from the customer's name, like putting a Title, Middle Name, or Suffix. That way, you can save it. Then, you can create bills afterward.

On the other hand, there are cases when a customer just wants to offset the amount they owe to the amount you owe. In this case, you will record a barter transaction.

If there's anything that I can help with your bills or customer's profile, feel free to reach back out. Have a good one!

Welcome back, useraamir-accounts.

I'd like to clarify some information.

Are you trying to make the bill as billable to customers? Since you mentioned that they're all disabled, it's possible that the customers are inactive in your account. Let's check their status and make them active by following these steps:

  1. Go to Sales > Customers.
  2. Click the Gear above the Action column.
  3. Put a check mark on the Include inactive box.
  4. Select the Make active link of the customers you want to activate.

Here's a sample screenshot for a visual guide:

Once done, go back to + New > Bills and check if you see the customers from the drop-down menu.

I also have these article that you can read for more information about the billable feature and customers:

Please, feel free to get back to us here if you have any follow-up questions or other concerns. Stay safe!

Thank's for the screenshot, Aamir. It really helps.

I notice this behavior in the QBO test drive, but we're working to fix it. On the other hand. our real accounts are working fine so far. We can select customers in the same field that you have issues with.

Are you using the test drive or your real account? If you're on your real account, you can do the basic browser troubleshooting steps.

Please sign in to QuickBooks using a private browser. This step disables its extensions and stops the cache from saving your browsing history.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • MS Edge and Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If you can choose a customer, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. If not, please try other browsers to see if we get the same thing.

If nothing works, please contact our Support team. That way, they can do a screen-sharing session to check this further.

Feel free to share an update after doing the steps above.
