Customer name QBD --> QBO Accountant

I recently converted from QBD to QBO for accountants.

  • I was maintaining my firms records in QBD while using QBO only to access our customers accounting records.
  • Customer names in QBD did not match the bookkeeping names we have access to in QBO.
  • After converting, I deactivated the QBO name since QBD had the billing history. This removed our teams access to the accounting file for our customer.
  • To correct this I reactivated the QBO name and merged it with the QBD name. So now we work solely with the QBO name.

Was this the correct thing to do? Does the QBO Bookkeeping company name have top priority?

I have a slew of other issues syncing bill.com, but I can get to that once I know the initial steps are correct.

You're on the right track, cfarmand.

You may notice some information is missing or different when you convert your data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA). This is due to QBDT having more features than QBOA.

If you think those are the same customers or suppliers you can merge them. This moves the data to the customer profile you want to keep.

To answer your question about QBO Bookkeeping company name have top priority is yes. Since this can affect other users if you set up limited access to your team.

For future reference, I've added this article to help you manage your team to help you with your firm: Add and manage your accounting team in QuickBooks Online Accountant.
