"Deactivate All Online Services" causes QB Desktop 2019 to crash

Upgrading to QB Desktop Pro 2019 from 2016, corrupted the Bank Feed Settings. Now when I try to Deactivate All Online Services for my credit card accounts, QB crashes. I need to go through the deactivation process in order to reset my online settings. The crash is an Unrecoverable Error (19344 85040). I'm unable to make any changes to the account settings for these two accounts. Making changes and trying to save the account results in an error preventing me from saving due to the corrupted online info or results in a QB crash.

Verify Data and Rebuild Data work without error.

I found a recommendation to export the COA and modify the accounts so that the bank feeds are disabled (QuickBooksHelp) but exporting the COA and then reimporting causes the following error for the online bank info lines at the bottom of the COA:

  • [ERROR] It's a list or transaction that is not supported by the IIF import process.

So it appears that QB 2019 no longer supports importing this info for the chart of accounts even though Intuit provided this info via QuickBooksHelp.

For the account line for the credit card, the following error was returned:

  • [ERROR] The record at (or starting at) this line could not be imported. There was an error when modifying a Accounts list, element "WELLS CARD - SCOTT".  QuickBooks error message: Unknown Error [3170]

Re: "Deactivate All Online Services" causes QB Desktop 2019 to crash

Hi beans,

We would need to fix the damage credit card list. We can do this by merging it to a new account. This recreates a missing element of the CC. I'll show you the steps.

  1. From your Chart of Accounts, Click CTRL + N.
  2. Choose Credit Card (CC), then click Continue
  3. Name this account, TEST then click Save and Close.
  4. Select the CC account that you need to disable its online services.
  5. Click CTRL + to edit the account. Copy the CC account name.
  6. Click Save and Close.
  7. Edit the Test account then paste the CC account name.
  8. Click Save and Close.
  9. A prompt will appear, select Yes to merge the account.

Next, run repair QuickBooks Desktop to fix the unrecoverable error.

Then, open QuickBooks and proceed in deactivating the online services on your credit card accounts.

Let us know if you need anything else.

Re: "Deactivate All Online Services" causes QB Desktop 2019 to crash

Hi TheresaC,

Thanks for the guidance. I've followed the steps, but am unable to see the instructions to "repair Quickbooks Desktop". Selecting the link redirects me to "" with the following message at the top: "Sorry, you are not authorized to access that page." I'm obviously logged into my account as I can post the original question and reply.

Re: "Deactivate All Online Services" causes QB Desktop 2019 to crash

Thanks for keeping me posted, beans.

Let me share the steps instead.

  1. Select Start and then Control Panel. Or you can type Control Panel. From the results, select Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Programs and Features. Or you can select Uninstall a program.
  3. In the list of programs, select QuickBooks. Then, choose Uninstall/Change.
  4. Hit Continue, then Next.
  5. Select Repair, then Next. Wait for the Repair to complete.
  6. Hit Finish

Though I was able to open the link in a private browser, I'll check with our knowledge team about your feedback on the article.

Let us know if you need anything else.

Hi TheresaC,

The repair process would not complete. I ran it as Administrator with antivirus turned off. I would get the following error:

During the patching step:

Retry never worked. Ignore would work for the first file, and then another error with another file:

Again Retry would never work, so Cancel was the only option. This would rollback the repair:

And then I would get the following error:

Tried the repair multiple times and the files names were always different. Unfortunately, the issue with the credit card accounts remains:

Thanks for your continued help with this issue.

I appreciate the details you've given, @beans.

Let's start with isolating the error 1328. This usually occurs when repairing, updating or installing QuickBooks. There are two ways of resolving the issue.

These are the following solutions to perform:

On the other hand, the unrecoverable errors are caused by various reasons, but the most common reason is missing Windows or QuickBooks updates, data damage, computer issues, or program code that needs repairing.

There are several resolutions to this depending on the issue that you're in. To perform this, you may refer to this article for complete details: Unrecoverable error in QuickBooks Desktop.
