Desktop pro freezing when opening and closing company file

Hi,

 

I have been having issues where QB Desktop Pro 2017 freezes after opening company file and also when closing company file.


I am able to get the company file open if I open the sample file first, then close it and open my company file.  But when I close the company file quickbooks freezes again and I am forced to use Task manager to end it.  I have tried other suggestions like rebuilding the file, using the diagnostic program, I have disabled Multi user access and even tried relocating my file.  I tried restoring a previous version also, but same issues.  When this problem started, it was only when closing the application, now it is also when opening.

 

If I try to rebuild the file, it finds an issue with my Sales income account (Error 61) it always says its fixed, but fails the next time I run the rebuild or verify data.

 

Any suggestions?

Here are some possible causes for this error: 

  • Your company name is too long.
  • Damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file.
  • Corruption on your hard drive.
  • Damaged program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation.
  • Damaged Windows operating system.

To resolve this, you'll need to process troubleshooting steps. First, let's suppress the QuickBooks Desktop application in case there is damage to your company file. Here's how: 

  1. Right-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon, press and hold the Ctrl key and select Open
  2. Do not release the Ctrl key until you have the No Company Open window unless QuickBooks freezes or gives you an error.
  3. Open the company file. 

If the issue still appears, please follow the additional troubleshooting steps in this article: QuickBooks Desktop won't open, has stopped working, or not responding.

Desktop pro freezing when opening and closing company file

So after reinstalling using clean install I was able to open and use my company file, but then upon finishing and exiting Quickbooks locked up again.  This is how it started in the first place.  Using task manager the Quickbooks application is using roughtly 20% CPU and memory is steadily climbing (Currently at 365mb).  

 

Any suggestions?
