How can I get a Budget vs. Actuals report for a "Location" in QBO Plus?

The standard Budget vs. Actuals report offers "Accounts v.s Classes" under >Rows/Columns Show Grid, but not "Accounts vs. Locations. And under "Filters" it offers Classes but not "Locations".

How can I get a Budget vs. Actuals report for a "Location" in QBO Plus?

I'm here to share some information about how budget works, treasurer84.

Currently, the option to add a location to an existing budget is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. We can only modify the amounts. In addition, the Copy option will only create a duplicate from an existing budget. To successfully generate your Budget vs. Actuals Report with location, we'll have to manually enter all your data from your previous budget.

I highly recommend taking a screenshot of your previous budget for reference.

In case you need to edit a budget, we'll have to make your changes in QuickBooks.

I'll be right here to keep helping if you have any other concerns or further questions about budget. Have a great rest of the weekend.

How can I get a Budget vs. Actuals report for a "Location" in QBO Plus?

Hello there, treasurer84,

You'll want to make sure you have selected a location when you created the budget. If there's no location attached, you won't see an option for Accounts vs. Locations on the Budget vs. Actuals report.

Check out these articles to customize reports:

How can I get a Budget vs. Actuals report for a "Location" in QBO Plus?

Brilliant, thank you!  I did not create the budget with Location, good call.

Is there a way to add Location to an existing budget?  I could not find it...

Tried the "Copy" option at the "Edit" dropdown, but it appears to make an exact copy without a way to set location for the copy...

Tried creating a new (blank) budget and I see how to set Location for it.

Is there any way to copy or import the account-by-month amounts in one budget into a new one?

Or do we just have to re-enter them all by hand?

Appreciate your help!

OK, thank you for confirming.  I'll mark this resolved.

We are using QBO for a nonprofit.  Looks like we can use Location feature to track restricted and unrestricted funds.  FWIW, it would be great if you could add "Fund" to the list of things a Location can be called.  "Department" is the closest we can get for now.

Thanks for following on this thread, @treasurer84.

I appreciate you for sharing with us your idea about adding another area (Funds) from the Location drop-down. We’re continuously working to improve the product’s features to ensure the best experience online experience.

I’ll send feedback about this feature on your behalf for consideration in future enhancements. I invite you to visit the QuickBooks Blog to learn what new updates are being rolled out, as well as additional resources while working in the online program.

For more information, the Set up and use location tracking article outlines the instructions on how to edit and add another location.

Reach out to me if you need help while working in QBO. I’m more than happy to assist further. Enjoy the rest of the day.
