How can I reconnect my bank account when the login is correct and nothing is wrong on the bank side. It is just unavailable in QB.

Welcome to the Community. I’m here to help reconnect your bank to QuickBooks.


Before performing any troubleshooting, could you tell me if you encounter any errors?  This can help me easily find the cause and its solution.


While waiting for the details, let me share some information about why we can't connect a bank account to QuickBooks Online. First, your bank could have multiple names on our list. We need to make sure to select the correct one. Next, the bank might not connect to all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs. business accounts).


Finally, the bank may not be a participating financial institution. To fix the issue, let’s try other versions of your financial institution.


From there, select to only release one website for connection to QBO. Here’s how:

 

  1. Hit the Banking menu on the left panel to choose Banking.
  2. On the Bank and Credit Cards page, click the Add account button.
  3. Type the financial institution’s name in the Enter your bank name or URL field box.
  4. From there, look for the bank and then select it from the list. Please note if QuickBooks supports your bank or credit card it will appear on the list.
  5. Choose the link for the financial institution’s website.
  6. This will open the window for the bank's site.
  7. Then, make sure you can access the account via this site.
  8. If yes, log out of the financial institution's website and continue to add the account in QuickBooks Online.

If none of these suggestions work, we’ll have to request a bank connection. Check out the steps below to enter the information.

 

  1. In Let’s get a picture of your profits window, scroll down to click on the Select Still can't find your bank link.

  2. Key in the account’s name in the Bank name field and web address in the Bank web address (URL) field box.

  3. Press Request to send it.

In the meantime, use the WebConnect feature to import transactions and then download them into your company file. The Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online link will walk through the step by step process.


In case you encounter any errors, What to do if you see a bank error or bank transactions won’t download article contains a list of common online banking errors. Proceed directly to the Fix specific banking errors section.

Hello,

My bank has been connected successfully for months.  About two days ago I saw a message in QBO saying the bank account needs attention.  When I click on the reconnect button, it defaults to my QBO login and gives me a message that it is the wrong login for the bank.  I retype the correct login for my bank (verified in another browser to be correct) and it takes me to three options to receive a secure code.  Any of the three options takes me to an error message stating that the bank connection is unavailable.  I waited two days to see if it would clear up.  Then I called the bank and they said that it is a QB issue.  They do not support the connection and have no way to troubleshoot.  The screenshots are attached.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

This bank error with First Interstate Bank has been reported. Our banking team is already working on getting this resolved as soon as possible. For now, we'd like you to contact our QuickBooks support. You will be added to the list of affected users.

 

Here's how:

  1. Click the Help icon.
  2. Hit Contact Us 
  3. Enter INV-47297, then click Let's talk
  4. Choose Get a callback or Start a message.

Hello,

I have requested reconnect with both NOVO bank and Garden Savings FCU.

I  have entered the banks' login URLs.

My login info is not update-able at this  time and will need to update the info for NOVO bank.

Sign in credentials for Garden Savings FCU remains unchanged.

I am having this exact same issue with my account. I have logged into the bank account about 3 times from the computer (on the same inter browser that I use for quickbooks) and it is successful. I have even logged into the account on my phone with the same login screen name and password as I use for quickbooks and it keeps telling me it is incorrect. Did you finally get your account back to working correctly?

Since you're able to log in to your bank account in QuickBooks Online using the browser on your computer, you may want to perform a troubleshooting method on your phone. This will eliminate any unwanted issues such as outdated data or other data issues.

 

If you're using a browser on your mobile, you may need to clear the cache. However, if you're using QuickBooks Online Mobile App, you can refresh the data through the app or using the phone settings. I'd be happy to show you how to do that:

If you're using an Android phone:

 

For Chrome and Firefox browser apps:

 

  1. Tap on the three-dotted line icon and select History.
  2. Click on the Clear browsing data... hyperlink.

If you're using an IOS phone:

 

For Safari browser:

 

  1. Go to Settings, then Safari.

How can I reconnect my bank account when the login is correct and nothing is wrong on the bank side. It is just unavailable in QB.

I spent 4 hours with support today trying to fix this very issue with First Horizon. They were certain I just didn't know my own father's middle name for my security questions. Or it was the accountant's fault. Seeing as this has been happening with several banks this year I hope it gets resolved soon. This makes the product literally unusable.

I was on chat with support for several hours today. They insisted the problem was that I didn't know the answers to my security questions. I do. I hope this gets resolved soon. My bank is first horizon and this makes the product practically unusable.
