Thanks for dropping by here in the Community. Allow me to share some information about adding subtotal lines to a report.

 

If you're trying to add the subtotal from the transactions to show on the report, this feature isn't currently offered in QuickBooks Online. I can definitely see how this feature would be useful. As a team with a massive road-map, we have to pick new features based on the value they’ll add to the most users possible. I encourage you to send feedback regarding features and options you'd like to see implemented in future product updates. Sorry, but that answer just doesn't do much for me. I have a small law firm and I absolutely must know my client's trust balances before I invoice them. The customer summary report that already exists does this for the A/R account, so it shouldn't be that hard to let me do the same report on a different account. All you need to do is allow selection of the underlying account as a customization and a report that already has subtotals could be modified for other purposes. I mean really.

In addition to richardmhunt, you can also export the report to Excel. Then, add the subtotal lines manually.

 

To do it:

  1. In the report, click the Export icon, beside the Printer icon.
  2. Click Export to Excel.

You can then add the subtotal lines on the spreadsheet.
