How can you change your subscription on Quickbooks to a lower tier of your current subscription?

I've got some steps so you can downgrade your QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscription, @amario-velazquez

I'd suggest reviewing the things below that will go away when you switch to a lower tier:

  • Features: The comparison chart helps you determine about the available functionalities on each version.
  • It might affect some third-party apps connected to the program.
  • It will remove all discounts you have on your current plan.

For more details, see the Before you downgrade section through this article: Downgrading QBO Plan. This link also provides you possible "downgrade stoppers" when you move to a plan that doesn’t have some features, such as inventory tracking.

When you're ready, here's how to downgrade your subscription:

  1. Go to this link: https://c70.qbo.intuit.com/app/changeplan
  2. Locate the new plan, and click Choose Plan
  3. Review the features under your new plan, and then click Next.
  4. Take care of any stoppers that appear. In case you encounter them, fix them manually.
  5. Review your new billing details. Choose Change plan to complete the process.
  6. Select Confirm, and then click Sign out.

Once done, your new subscription should take effect right away. Here's how to verify:

  1. Log in to your QBO company as an admin.
  2. Go to the Settings (Gear) icon at the upper right.
  3. Select Account and Settings under Your Company
  4. Go to the Billing & Subscription tab.
  5. Check your new plan.

You can easily manage your payment and plan info within the Billing & Subscription tab. This lets you update your credit card info and make other changes to your account. For more information, check out this article: Update Your Billing and Subscription Info.

@amario-velazquez

Consider these workaround to get the current discounted plan (i.e 50% off for 6 months)

1. Explore this backup tool to copy data between QBO accounts.

2. Open a new QBO account

3. Cancel your old QBO account

Good luck!

Thanks for joining this conversation, @Kim LaFeve.

Since you only use checking, consider using QuickBooks Online (QBO) Simple Start version. Most of the small businesses use this since it is the most affordable among all our QBO products.

You can check our comparison chart to see the available functionalities on each version. Here's the link: Choose the plan that's right for your business.

Once you've decided, just click the Select option (in the comparison chart) for the QBO version you'd like to use. Then, follow the on-screen instruction to complete the process.

Reach out to me in the comment section below if you have any follow-up questions or concerns. I'm more than happy to answer them. Have a great day!
