How do I delete a duplicate company file?

I mistakenly created a second company file and don't want it cluttering up my login flow.

How do I delete a duplicate company file?

If your second account is less than 60 days, you can purge that company. I'd be happy to walk you through how: 

  1. Go back to QBO and edit the URL in your browser's address bar. Delete everything after the last / and enter purgecompany. For example: https://...qbo.intuit.com/app/homepage, change to https://...qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany.
  2. Type in Yes to confirm that you want to delete your company data.
  3. Select Wipe data.

However, if the account is already 60 days old or beyond, I suggest canceling the duplicate subscription. With that, QBO will automatically delete the other company after 365 days.

Please follow the steps to cancel your subscription:

  1. Login to QBO and choose the duplicate account you wanted to cancel.
  2. Go to the Gear icon ⚙ and then select Account and Settings.
  3. Choose Billing and Subscription.
  4. Under the QuickBooks section, click Cancel.
  5. Follow the steps to cancel your account.

How do I delete a duplicate company file?

Hi 

 

This was a duplicate and i never set it up  ...  its billing me $70 and when i go to billing and subscriptions there is no page like that described.  there is only info on updating the credit card,  and info is clickable boxes.  i am totally trapped and no number to call for help.  Frustrated and would appreciate some help.

Thank you for following the steps provided by my colleague. Since this is a duplicate company which you did not set up, I suggest contacting support so that they can verify and cancel the subscription for you.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. In your QuickBooks Online company, go to the ? Help button.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern like, "I wanted to cancel my subscription" and click Let's talk.
  4. Choose how you wanted to be assisted, via chat or a callback.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions and enter the information needed to be assisted.

 

Also, for your information due to COVID-19, we have limited staffing and have reduced our support hours to 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. Pacific Time Monday to Friday. Normal hours will resume as soon as possible.
