How do I reorganize accounts within a type on the chart of accounts list and subsequent reports?
Let me help you in organizing your account and reports in QuickBooks, @lindsayranch.
If you want to reorganize your accounts based on its type, you can simply click the TYPE drop-down. This will gather each account base on its type.
However, if you want to reorganize them alphabetically by type, the option for this is unavailable for now in QuickBooks.
For your subsequent reports, we can modify its arrangement by exporting them to your excel file. Simply follow these steps:
Go to Reports menu and search for Account List Report.
Click the Export icon beside the small Gear icon.
Select Export to Excel.
Once downloaded, use the Sort and Filter option to reorganize them.
