How do I show the memo line in my reconciliation report in QBO?

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, @ecpatusa1.

Reconciliation report only shows information such as the Date, Type, Ref. No., Payee and Amount. Customizing Reconciliation Report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to show the Memo line is currently unavailable. As a workaround, you can export the Reconciliation Report to Excel. From there you can manually add a line for the Memo.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. From the Search field, type Reconciliation Reports.
  3. Click the report to open it.
  4. Highlight the information on the report.
  5. Right-click and copy the information.
  6. Open Excel, right-click and paste the information.
  7. Adjust the column widths for the format of the Excel report to show all the information.
  8. To add a line or column for the Memo, right-click the cells and select Insert
  9. Once done, go to the File tab and hit Save.

For more information about how Reconciliation Report works in QBO, please refer to this article: View, print, or export a Reconciliation report

Also, if you want to customize some of your reports in QBO, you can check this article: Customize Reports in QuickBooks Online. This provide you detailed steps in changing or modifying some of your reports in QBO.

How do I show the memo line in my reconciliation report in QBO?

Hello, ecpatusa1.

I'm here to give clarifications regarding the user's screenshot. I'd also like to add an alternative way to see the memo of reconciled transactions in a report.

I see that @rinaaritonang posted a screenshot for QuickBooks Desktop. The tabs don't exist in QuickBooks Online (they're two different platforms). You'll want to follow @DivinaMercy_N's advice instead since they posted the steps specific to QBO.

Regarding the other solution, you can run a report for your bank register and filter it to show only the reconciled transactions. Here's how:

  1. Go to Accounting, then click the Chart of Accounts tab.
  2. Find the reconciled bank account, then click the arrow button under the Action column.
  3. Choose Run report
  4. In the report overview screen, click the Customize button.
  5. Under the Report period drop-down menu, select Custom.
  6. Enter the start and end dates (ideally, these are start of the date from your previous reconciliation and the statement ending date).
  7. Under the Rows/Columns section, click Change columns and ensure Memo/Description is checked.
  8. Expand the Filter section.
  9. Tick Cleared, then choose Reconciled from the drop-down menu.
  10. Once done, hit Run report.

This is what it will look like after setting up the filters:

If you want to save this customized report for future use, you can save it. Simply click on the Save customization button in the report overview screen. Enter a report name for it, then hit Save

You can access this by going to the Reports menu, then selecting the Custom reports tab.
