How do I work on a file at two different office locations, concurrently?

Hello there, I have seen a multitude of answers to this question on here so let me break down my very specific requirement for my file use and maybe someone can help me understand the process needed to make this happen.

I have Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2020 at my office. I have also installed it on my laptop. I use my database files for my companies during the day at my office. My wife has recently learned how to use Quickbooks and with all of the massive work I have, would like it if she could be working on the files during the day at the same time as me and that they will save. She would be at home and therefore I don't believe she can be part of a multi-user network? Unless there's a way to remotely tap in to that from another location. We would gladly pay for a second license for her to do that.

I do not however want to buy Quickbooks Gold which is what someone suggested to me on the phone because it is vastly overpriced for what we can afford as a small business as opposed to being some big enterprise.

I considered working on the file during the day, saving to a backup drive and bringing it home and she would take over from there, make updates, save to drive and bring back into work where I'd import it again there but this seems INCREDIBLY tedious and I'm sure it will lead to problems with the files.

Surely there is a way to make this process easier. Please help!

There's no need to switch to QuickBooks Gold, gloriouslygloria,

You can use the multi-user network. However, you'll have to purchase another license for the other user. This way, both of you can work on the company file at the same time. Regardless if they're at home.

Just a heads up, the recommended multi-user set up is having the company file stored on the Host computer.

I've added these articles as to how multi-user works:

I'm just around in case you have questions regarding to the feature.

@gloriouslygloria

Should you need both of you working on same file at the same time but you don't have any LAN environment, you may deploy a private cloud at your office or your home. One computer will be assigned as host and another one as the client. You need to have QB Pro 2 users license. The cost for this solution is $25/access/month.

Hope it helps.

This does! Thank you! I'm pretty sure we don't have a LAN connection!

Thank you! I will review these links and attempt to access the file. I see the other poster below suggested a cloud solution (I know OneDrive and the like don't work for this purpose as I've read elsewhere) but I'm not sure how networks work in terms of being on different wifi networks between the two locations. I'll try to wrap my head around it and if I have more questions I will post here. Thanks again for the help!
