How does a company's QB Online administrator sign in for their own Workforce Account?

I trying signing into Workforce with my already existing Intuit/QB online account (email). Workforce gives error message that "Something is not quite right - We can't find your company - Have your employer reach out to us for help". I try creating a new account (using my existing Intuit/QB id/email), and it says the account already exists. Other employees are able to setup a Workforce account for this company.

I'm here to help you in setting up your Workforce account, usercmurfiniii.

You'll need to set up yourself as an employee first and then send the invite to your email address. This way, you'll have access to your pay stubs and W-2s online. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu.
  2. Select the Employees tab.
  3. Click Add an employee.
  4. Add your personal information, including their email address.
  5. Tick the Ask this employee to enter their personal, tax, and banking info with QuickBooks Workforce checkbox.
  6. Select Done.

Once done, you'll receive an email with a link to set up QuickBooks Workforce. You'll just need to accept the invitation, then enter your existing Intuit account.

I'm also adding this article to learn how to see your payroll information online: View your paychecks and W-2s in QuickBooks Workforce.

How does a company's QB Online administrator sign in for their own Workforce Account?

Hi KlentB,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I am already setup as an employee for this company.  In QuickBooks Online payroll, under employees, I've already chosen "Invite to Workforce", and invited myself and 2 other employees.  One of the other employee was successfully able to setup a Workforce account.  It appears it's having a problem with my "Workforce invite email address" being identical to the already existing Intuit/Quickbooks sign on of the same email address.  Any suggestions?

Hi usercmurfiniii!

I'm joining here so I can further assist you in setting up QuickBooks Workforce.

You'll want to make sure that you clicked and sign up to QuickBooks Workforce using the link on the email invitation. Then, follow the steps on this article on how to set it up: Set up your QuickBooks Workforce account.

Ideally, you can sign up to QuickBooks Workforce even if you're using an email address that is linked to an Intuit account already. You'll just need to use the same login credentials when setting up your QuickBooks Workforce account.

You'll want to use an incognito window and accept the invitation from there. Incognito won't save your browsing history which can result in an error. These are some of the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P

Also, you'll want to clear the cache and make sure you're using a supported and up-to-date browser. This can fix any browser-related issues.

I added this article to know where to go to see your paychecks, W-2s, and other info: View your paychecks and W-2s in QuickBooks Workforce

Leave a comment again below if you have other concerns aside from this. Take care!

How does a company's QB Online administrator sign in for their own Workforce Account?

Thanks AlexV,

Before I read your reply this morning, I noticed another email Invite that came around 2:35AM this morning.  I hadn't sent any more since around 4:30pm yesterday.  Anyway, I happened to be on a different computer this morning (assuming that took care of the incognito window issue), and was able to sign in with my existing Intuit/QuickBooks credentials to Workforce without any issues.  Looks like I'm good to go now.

Thank you.
