I have my own practice records set up on QBO.
I notice however that when I go into the client area, among the clients is the name of my own practice - but none of my accounting information is in there
It looks to me as though the iOS app links into this client version which has no data in it
How do I fix it so that I can use the app with my practice's data - and as part of that I guess I need the practice data to appear under the listing for my practice which appears under clients?
I am totally stuck!
Hello there, @richardyates.
In QuickBooks Online for Accountant, your practice (Clients information) is separated from your own books. Also, the customers listed under your own books will be displayed under your clients page. Since you'll be preparing tax return for them at the end of the year.
You need not to worry though, you can filter out the view of your clients page under your practice section.
Feel free to visit us here in QuickBooks if you have other questions. I'm always here to help.
Thanks for the reply, but I think it completely fails to understand what I am asking. Let's try from a different angle.
If I go into the quickbooks iphone app, I can access all of my clients accounts in there and do all of the things the app is designed to do
However where it comes to my own practice records every field is empty and I cannot access my own records, nor can I add any information into them
This seems to be because my own practice records are somehow ringfenced from the app. In the app, and online, my list of clients includes my own practice under the dropdown box "Go to client's Quickbooks" but once in that selection there are no entries
How do I access my own practice accounts in the quickbooks app in the same way as I can access my clients' accounts in the iOS app? I want to be able to access my own practice records as well as those of my clients when I am not in the office
Hoping you can help. This is a question about accessing my own records not those of my clients - that works just fine
I replicated the same scenario in my test account and I was able to access my own practice records. The same thing when opening QuickBooks on the browser.
Let’s try refreshing your QuickBooks app data. Here’s how:
You might want to proceed uninstalling and reinstalling the application if it doesn’t work. There’s a possibility that the app’s overloaded cache is causing this issue.
If the same issue continues after trying these steps, I’d recommend contacting the phone support team.
Here’s how you can reach them:
Feel free to let me know if anything else comes up
Hmm I am using QB accountant, so there is no app to install as such - it is all done via the web interface
The only hamburger menu I have on screen just collapses the menu down the left hand side
Is this really so hard? I want to be able to access my practice's records on my phone. I can do it for all my clients
I suspect the app is linking into the client records but not the practice records because under client records there is a client with my practice name - and nothing else at all, no bank accounts nothing - all of those records are in my practice area
PLEASE read my 2 previous messages and consider if either of them actually addresses what I have asked
I know how the mobile app is convenient for you, richardyates.
Let's resolve the issue by performing a few troubleshooting steps so you'll be able to see and manage your entries in the practice account. If the hamburger icon collapses once you click it, let's uninstall and reinstall the mobile app.
Afterwards, let's sign in to your QBO account and open the practice file. If you get the same thing, I recommend reaching out to our Customer Support Team.
Through a browser, sign in to QuickBooks. Click the Help ( ? ) icon and select Contact us. Enter a brief description that you can't see any data in your practice company file using the mobile app. Then, select Let's talk. Please choose a way on how you'll want to connect with us. It can be through chat or call.
Keep me posted for any updates. Thanks in advance!
