Re: How to update your EFTPS Internet password in quickbooks online?

Hello there @joefisher,

Let me step in to this thread, in QuickBooks Online if you already have signed up for e file and e pay (Not in QuickBooks Online) which is why you have EFTPS PIN. We recommend signing up in QuickBooks Online with the IRS or state agencies. Signing up for e-file and e-pay makes tax payments and form filings automatic.

Once you have done this inside QBO you don't need to update anything within QucikBooks Online if you make changes to your EFTPS information.

Here's how:

  • In the left navigation bar, click Taxes > Payroll Tax. Then click the Edit your e-file and e-pay setup link.
  • Select E-file and e-pay and the states you want to enroll.
  • Connect your bank automatically, if prompted.
    • Or
  • Connect your bank using account and routing numbers.
  • E-sign the authorization forms.
    • This authorizes us to pay taxes and file tax forms on your behalf.

Quickbooks will give you a view on your taxes when it's ready to file or due to file.

Thanks for joining this thread, @chackler.

Since you’re using the E-Services feature to process tax payments, you’ll no longer have to update the information in QuickBooks. This is because the information will automatically sync in your account.

Just make sure to change the password in the EFTPS website. Let me walk you through the process.

  1. In your browser, type in this link: www.eftps.gov/eftps.
  2. On the Home page, select Login to update the information.
  3. Enter your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), PIN, and the current Internet password.
  4. Update the Internet Password and make sure it meets the new security requirements.

However, if you’re using the desktop version, the following article can help modify the information: Update your EFTPS Internet password.

Let me know if you have further questions or any other concerns. I’ll be right here to assist further. Have a great day ahead.

Re: How to update your EFTPS Internet password in quickbooks online?

I know how to change your EFTPS Internet password, joefisher

QuickBooks Online doesn't have the option to update it. Since it is a credential for EFTPS, you'll have to change it from their website. You can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the EFTPS website.
  2. On the home page, select Login. Then, click Need a Password.
  3. Enter your EIN or SSN, and your EFTPS PIN.
  4. Enter your banking information or the last eight digits of your EFTPS enrollment number.
  5. Select Next.

Make sure that you've met the security requirements. Secure passwords must have 8-12 characters and contain:

  • At least one uppercase (for example, A, B, or C)
  • One lowercase (for example, a, b, or c)
  • At least one numeral (for example, 1, 2, 3) or one of the following special characters:
    !, @, #, $, *, +, -
After changing the password, you'll have to wait at least an hour before sending a federal e-payment.

You can always drop by if you have other concerns.

Sorry that it is a little confusing the way I worded the question. I have already changed my password at EFTPS, now I'm trying to change it in quickbooks online so that when I efile my 941 it can access my EFTPS account

Re: How to update your EFTPS Internet password in quickbooks online?

Hey Joe Fisher...I received an email from QB on 8/8/19 about changing my EFTPS password before 9/19.  I don't recall ever setting up EFTPS, but I do submit all of my payroll tax deposits through QB e-Pay as well as e-File my Federal reports.  Do I need to be concerned with the email notification regarding the EFTPS password policy?  Thoughts?

Thanks.

Re: How to update your EFTPS Internet password in quickbooks online?

Thank you, I had updated my EFTPS password on their website already. I just didn't realize it would take care of itself on the QBO end.  I've made a payment since then and it seemed to work great.

Re: How to update your EFTPS Internet password in quickbooks online?

Hello there, @idkdak.

You'll have to update your EFTPS internet password through the EFTPS site. Once you've updated your EFTPS, it'll automatically update in your QuickBooks Online account.

Also, regarding on how to find your PIN, you'll have to contact IRS.gov to further assist you with this. They can provide you the right information on how to find your PIN.

Re: How to update your EFTPS Internet password in quickbooks online?

So, just to be clear, you only change the password directly in the online EFTPS account.  You do nothing with QBO?

QBD works differently and you change online with EFTPS and in the software when you make a federal payment, Right?
