If you have to open a new QBO account, make sure to click the Buy button to get the discounted price for up to 3 months. If you purchase from the Trial account or upgrade/downgrade your plan, you have to pay the regular rate.

Congrats on making your first post here in the Community. Let's work together and get this problem handled. 

 

There can be only one reason as to why you're being charged $40 instead of $20 now for a subscription: 

 

If you're a new user with QuickBooks, they will allow you to have a discount to start with. Examples: (50% off for the first 3 months, 70% for the first 3 months, etc.) Note: This is displayed on the plans and pricing page for QuickBooks Online (QBO). After the discount is applied and you've pasted the three months, then the subscription will go to its regular billing charge.

 

It sounds like to me that you're using the Essentials subscription with QuickBooks, and you've just recently come off of a discount. 

 

You can also double-check your Account and Settings feature in your QuickBooks to see the payment history. Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the Gear (Settings) icon in the top right corner. 
  2. Pick Account and Settings under the "Your Company" column. 
  3. Click the Billing and Subscription tab on the left-hand side. 
  4. In the QuickBooks section, choose the View Payment History hyperlink.  

 

If you're still unsure of why you're being charged more for your QBO subscription, you can always contact our Customer Support Team. They have more tools to review your account and add details to give you a better explanation of this problem.
