I cancelled my subscription because pricing kept going up with no added value. How do I get it back to where it was and if I restart, will I be charged for back months.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community forum, @billy-ruff.

You will not be chargeback on the months you're account is cancelled. Once you reactivate your account, the price will be the standard fee under the pricing plan you had originally signed for.

Moreover, keep in mind that if you had cancelled your subscription during your promotional introductory period, that intro rate will not apply, and you will instead be billed at the standard monthly rate.

To resubscribe, here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Click the gear icon at the top.
  3. Under Your Company, select Account and Settings
  4. In the left menu, pick Billing & Subscription.
  5. Hit Resubscribe and enter the updated billing information.
  6. Once done, choose to Subscribe.

For more information about this process, consider checking this article: How to resubscribe or reactivate QuickBooks Online.

@billy-ruff

In term of cost, it is better you open a new QBO account. You may get current discounted price for up to 6 months.

What about downgrading. it seems we are not told that if we move up on some of the plans there is no ability to downgrade back to the original. Prices have changed and my business needs time to recover.

@CROWWARDjm

What error messages did you encounter when trying to downgrade? One thing is for sure, you are not allowed to downgrade to Simple Start when you have enabled the multicurrency feature. You will have to signup for a new one and migrate data from the old account.

If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your book and only need basic features, you should explore a free program. You can use the program for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). This program is quite popular in Asia and Europe.
