The change password option is enabled if the bank supports it. If it doesn't you have to reenter the password. What happens is people store the password in the Apple keychain - after that QB doesn't prompt for it when you connect.
To delete it from the keychain use Spotlight to locate the Keychain Access application. Launch Keychain Access. Click on Login for the keychain, All Items for the category, and then type BankingAccountPassword in the search field (no spaces).
Find the saved password for the bank in question (if you have multiple banks you'll see more than one). Select it and hit delete.
The next time you connect to the bank QB will prompt you for the password. You can save it in the keychain again then.

I am having trouble updating my bank password. All I get is an error message that says. "Something isn't working" with a button to update which obviously doesn't work. If I click the icon on the top right of the bank account in banking to edit it, there is no username and password fields, just the general name and info for the account. Please let me know how to update my password. Thank you!
Hi there, @bridgesetsound.
Let's disconnect and reconnect your bank account. This way, you'll be able to update your bank account password once you reconnect it. Let me guide you how.
Before disconnecting your bank account, make sure you match or delete all of the downloaded transactions for the account. QuickBooks won’t let you make changes if there are still pending transactions.
In your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac software:
I've got you this great article for more details (read QuickBooks for Mac section): Disconnect Bank Feeds for an Account in QuickBooks Desktop.
Once done, reconnect your bank account.
Feel free to visit this page for more details (go To set up Direct Connect section): QBDT for Mac Little Square.
If you're unsure on doing this, I suggest reaching out to your accountant for further advice. This way, you'll be guided accordingly.

Hello @robert4321,
Let me help and guide you on how you can get back to working with your bank in QuickBooks.
To start with, have you tried following the suggestion shared by my colleague, @JasroV, above? If yes but it still didn't work and since creating a temporary password also didn't work, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Support.
From there, a specialist can help get connected again with your bank for direct connection. If needed, a ticket will also be created and submitted to our engineering team for further investigation.
To do so, let me show you how you can connect with our dedicated support:
Additionally, you can also browse for the content of this helpful article in case you wanted to start balancing your checkbook: Learn how to reconcile your accounts so they always match your bank and credit card statements.
If you have any other questions, please let me know by leaving any comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand. Stay safe and well!
Once I was in the keychain app, I coulld not delete, but it allowed me to view the password, and change it there. And then yes, QB did prompt me to enter again.
