I get a blank screen when i am trying to upgrade to Quickbooks Essentials.

I currently have Quickbooks Self Employed and I am trying to upgrade to Essentials but I get a blank screen after I choose the Essentials plan.

I get a blank screen when i am trying to upgrade to Quickbooks Essentials.

We can perform some troubleshooting steps to upgrade from QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) Essential, Chiragb75. Let us guide you through the process.

 

To resolve the blank screen issue when upgrading to QBO Essential, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to see if the issue is within your browser. We can open a private or incognito window in the browser to open your account with a clean slate and load fresh data. Here's how:

 

  • Mozilla Firefox / Internet Explorer: Press CTRL Shift P
  • Safari: Press Command Shift N
  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL Shift N

 

Once done, try upgrading your subscription again. Once you migrate to QBO Essential, you have the option to copy your data since the option to switch back to QBSE is unavailable. We'll need to perform the steps below on a computer: 

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu.
  2. From the Profile column, choose Upgrade.
  3. Select Choose a plan on the one that you prefer. Then, review the changes in features and hit Sounds good.
  4. If you want to copy your data to QBO, select Bring my data. If not, choose Start Fresh.
  5. Review the summary of data that you'll move to QuickBooks Online.
  6. Tap Continue, then To QuickBooks Online!
  7. Double-check your payment method and select Change plan. If you need to change your payment method, click  Edit.
  8. Answer or confirm ‌a few details about your business to start using QuickBooks Online.

 

If you subscribed to QBSE through Google Play or App Store, we'll need to manually switch to the Online version. If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime data collection can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. You can also use supported, up-to-date browsers to rule out the possibility of a browser-related issue.
