I have a Desktop customer that lost / can't remember the admin password... can it be recovered? If so, who do I tell them to contact?

I have a Desktop customer that lost / can't remember the admin password... can it be recovered? If so, who do I tell them to contact?

Hello there, @BC-MD.

 

There are several ways on how to reset the password, depending on the products you're using. I'll show you how:

 

For QBO, let them follow the steps on how to reset the password for QuickBooks Online.

 

  1. Go to qbo.intuit.com
  2. Select I forgot my user ID or Password.
  3. Enter your phone number, email address, or User ID. 
  4. Hit Continue.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions. If you used your email address or User ID to verify your account, then you'll receive an email with a password reset link.

For QBDT, here's how to reset the password for QuickBooks Desktop.

 

  1. On the Company Login window, select I forgot my password.
  2. Select an email from the drop-down list, then Next. You’ll be emailed a token to reset your password. 
  3. If you don’t see your email address, select Don’t see your email in the list above? and follow the directions provided.
  4. Enter the token you received.

Also, if your client needs further assistance with the process, I'd suggest reaching out to our Customer Support Team. They have tools like screen sharing that can help them reset the password securely.

 

Just a heads up, we have limited staffing and have reduced our support hours to 6 AM-6 PM PT Monday-Friday due to COVID-19. We will resume normal hours as soon as possible.
