Nice to have you in the Community space, @milestonegraitei.

I appreciate you for using QuickBooks Online (QBO). To move your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) data to your QBO account, you’ll need to upgrade your software to the latest version. I’d be glad to walk you through the steps.

Here’s how:

  1. Back up your QBDT 2016 data first.
  2. Download a free trial of QBDT 2021 (ensure your computer meets the system requirements for the 2021 version).
  3. Restore your QBDT 2016 data on your QBDT 2021 free trial.
  4. From there, export your invoice.
  5. Then import the invoices to your QBO account.
  6. Do the same process for your second computer and import your chart of accounts.

Once done, run both reports in your QBDT and QBO account to check if the migration process is successful.

Let me also add this link that you can read for guidance in case you need to move your company file to QBO: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, I encourage checking our QuickBooks Support page for reference in learning your ways around your QBO account.

Let me know if you have there’s anything else I can assist you in moving your data to QBO, I’m more than happy to work with you again. Have a great day and keep safe.

@milestonegraitei

You may utilize a migration tool to merge the data.

Otherwise, consider purchasing a 3rd party merging service.
