This isn't the kind of experience we want you to have when updating QuickBooks Online (QBO) for Mac app, @leif-ulstrup. That's why I'm here to guide you on the steps you need to take care of the issue.

We constantly upgrading the QBO for Mac app to provide you the best experience using the platform. When you're unable to upgrade through the option provided in the message, let's uninstall and then reinstall the application on your computer. This is to make sure you're using the latest version of the app.

Let's start uninstalling the QBO for Mac app using the following steps:

  1. Drag the QuickBooks app from the Applications folder to the Trash.
  2. To completely remove the app, go to Finder.
  3. Choose Empty Trash.

Once done, you're set to reinstall the app. You can refer to this article for the step-by-step guide: Install the QuickBooks Online for Mac app.

Additionally, the QuickBooks app provides you the power of QBO with the speed and ease you expect on your desktop. To learn more about what you can do with the app, I'd recommend checking out this article: QuickBooks App for Mac General support. It also includes topics about the app's minimum system requirements, clearing cache, and using multiple windows, to name a few.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. If you have other concerns about upgrading the QBO for Mac app, I'm just around to help. Take care always.
