  1. Sign in using a web browser.
  2. Select the Gear icon and choose Account and Settings.
  3. Click the Billing & Subscription tab.
  4. Choose Cancel in the QuickBooks section.
  5. Follow the prompts to finish canceling the account.

Let's perform some browser troubleshooting steps to reset QuickBooks' connection so you can cancel your subscription.

 

Browsers save web page data into its cache to speed up its loading time the next time you visit the same web page. However, having too much of this information in your browser's cache can cause errors like the one you see in your screenshot. If you haven't already, I suggest accessing your QuickBooks Online account through an incognito or private window. This way, we can rule out any cache problems.

 

You can get started with these keyboard shortcuts depending on the browser you're using:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If you're able to cancel your subscription in a private window, you'll need to clear your cache and cookies to ensure this issue doesn't happen again.

 

However, our QuickBooks Online Support team can cancel your subscription as well. They have the tools to access your account and cancel your subscription on their end. This will ensure your account is canceled, and you're no longer charged for your subscription.

Thank you for joining the QuickBooks Community, Azarria00. It's very unfortunate to see you go, but I'll walk you through on how to cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription. Here's how:

 

  1. Click the Gear icon in the top right corner.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. Choose Billing & Subscription.
  4.  Click the blue Cancel link in the Subscription status section.
  5. You'll be asked if you'd like to call in, change your plan, or Continue to cancel.
  6.  Answer the short survey, then click Confirm Cancel.

 

An email will be sent to the account administrator confirming that your subscription was canceled. I have included this article to let you know what happens to your data after you cancel.

I’m trying to cancel my QuickBooks simple start. I’ve had no luck in the last hour. I do not have a billing and subscription tab.   Please, how do I cancel on my own or at least find a human to talk to.

We're sad to let you go, @Loki2. But we're still here to help you cancel your QuickBooks Online account.

 

One of the possible reasons why you don't have the Billing and Subscription menu is that you're not logged in as the Master Admin. As mentioned by @Fiat Lux - ASIA, you'll want to make sure to login as Master Admin.

 

However, if you don't still see the Billing and Subscription menu after logging in as Master Admin, you may have bought your subscription via Apple's App Store or Google Play. 

 

To cancel your QuickBooks Online through the app store, please follow the steps below:

 

For an iPhone or iPad, here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Settings menu, then select iTunes & App Store.
  2. Select your Apple ID and choose View Apple ID.
  3. Enter your password, then select Subscriptions.
  4. Choose QuickBooks Online and click Cancel.

Here's how for Android device:

 

  1. Go to the Play store app.
  2. Click the Menu icon, then select Subscriptions.
  3. Choose the QuickBooks app.
  4. On the Manage subscriptions window, select Cancel subscription.

When QuickBooks Online (QBO) is no longer meeting the needs of your growing business, you can cancel your subscription through the Billing & Subscription page. However, before doing so, please make sure to log in as the Master Admin and export all the necessary reports and documents for future use.

 

Whenever you're ready, here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and settings.
  3. Choose the Billing & Subscription menu.
  4. Click the Cancel hyperlink in the QuickBooks section.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
