Hi there, @MHaner.

QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) makes your tax preparation and filing easier, helping you save time. The system lets you send your tax information from QBSE to TurboTax.

Before exporting, make sure your accounts are connected for the import to work. This means that you sign in to QBSE and either TurboTax Self-Employed or TurboTax Live Self-Employed with the same login credentials. You can only send your information over once. If the export fails, I recommend contacting QuickBooks Self-Employed Support Team so they can help transfer your data.

To send your tax information:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed
  2. Don’t enter any information in TurboTax before you import it.
  3. Click Tax Checklist, then select Review final tax summary.
  4. After reviewing the information, click Send to TurboTax in the bottom right of the screen.
  5. Select It's OK to send my info to send your information to TurboTax.

You’ll need to enter some information manually into TurboTax as they don’t import:

  • Vehicle loan interest
  • Other vehicle expenses
  • Home office expenses
  • Interest paid
  • Self-employment health insurance premiums.

You should also keep a few other things in mind:

  • Make sure you are accessing TurboTax with the same User ID and password that you use for your QuickBooks Self-Employed account. This will make sure you get any bundles you’ve paid for.
  • Meal expenses are imported as a 50% deductible.
  • QuickBooks estimated tax payments generally cover federal income taxes, not self-employment taxes.

You can also refer to this article for more details with the steps above: Send your tax info to TurboTax Online.

If you any other additional questions, you can post them anytime here. Take care always.
