Yes, you can remove transactions that have not yet been categorized, Jennifer.
If you have downloaded bank transactions that are still in the For review tab, you can select and exclude them in bulk, allowing you to delete them all at once. Here's how:
- Go to Transactions and select Bank transactions.
- Click the For review tab.
- Tick the checkbox before the transactions you want to exclude.
- Select the Exclude button.

- Go to the Excluded tab and place a checkmark on all the transactions you want to delete.

- Click Delete.
For categorized transactions, if these are added, you need to undo the categorization first, then exclude, and finally delete them from the Excluded tab. If matched, you'll need to undo the match, exclude, and then locate and delete the original matched transaction manually from the register. Keep in mind that deleting previous transactions can significantly impact your financial reports and balances.
If the transactions you want to remove have already been reconciled, you'll need to manually undo them. Alternatively, you can work with an accountant who has a QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) account. They can undo reconciliations in bulk, reverting those transactions to an unreconciled status, which facilitates safer deletion and cleanup.
I highly recommend collaborating with your accountant throughout this process to ensure your financial records remain accurate. After the cleanup, you can confidently begin reconciling.
I've added this article to guide you in viewing which transactions were cleared and which were left uncleared when you reconciled, as well as printing a reconciliation report in QBO: View, print, or export a reconciliation report.
