Based on the details you've mentioned, you've already connected the main or parent account in the program. That's why you're not allowed to set up a second card as a subaccount.
To resolve this issue, I recommend disconnecting the account you've linked first. You can then reconnect your account based on how your financial institution sends the downloaded transactions.

CHASE lists the one main card # at the top of our statements, and charges are listed chronologically, whether on the main or second card.
The link with QBO created two separate COA accounts. The main card has a credit balance because it has paid the charges of the second card, which cancels out in the Balance Sheet but makes reconciling the accounts a mystery.
Since neither card seems to have been connected "first" but at the same time, I think what you are saying is that I need to disconnect BOTH accounts and then link only the main credit card?
Question is: what happens to the charges downloaded already?
Also: will QBO "find" the main card in COA by doing this re-link?
AND: what happens to the abandoned QBO account for the second credit card?

Additionally, when you disconnect an account from online banking, your existing accounting data won't be affected. You can always reconnect the account to start downloading transactions again. However, it's important to note that QuickBooks (QB) will delete any transactions that need to be categorized in the "For Review" tab. If these transactions are older than 90 days, you won't be able to download them again in QB.

However, the system is unable to connect both a parent account and its subaccounts to online banking simultaneously. Otherwise, it will result in an error message indicating that the account is already connected.
