Is it possible to add a filter to the standard AR Aging Summary report? Currently, there is only one filter option, for customer. I'd like to add account as a filter.

Unfortunately, when we set up QB account, our Unbilled Account is an AR account, and it really should be Other not AR. Therefore none of the standard AR aging reports are useful.

Hello, tina-segal-dss-s.

I have information regarding the AR aging reports. I'll also give you the steps on how we can manage and view your transactions under your unbilled account.

The standard AR aging reports have fixed filter settings, so we're unable to add the Account filter. I take it that you're trying to view a list of unbilled charges.

In this case, you'll want to run the Unbilled charges (or time) report instead. Simpy go to the Reports tab, then select Unbilled charges under the Who owes you section.

You can still change the account for your unbilled charges. In the report, you'll want to click on the Billable Expense Charge transactions, then change the account under Account

If you want to change the account where you track your billable expenses, you'll want to go to your Chart of Accounts. Note: You can only do this if you've enabled the In multiple accounts option when setting up your billable expenses

To change it:

  1. Go to your Chart of Accounts.
  2. Create a new expense account to track your billables (you can also edit an existing one instead).
  3. Check the Use for billable expenses box, then tag an income account for it.
  4. Once done, click Save and Close

After checking your unbilled charges, you can start creating invoices for them. Check this article if you need help: Create invoices in QuickBooks Online.

No, I don't want to see unbilled charges.  We debit AR Unbilled credit Sales for our revenue entries.  Our account AR Unbilled is not truly an AR account.  Therefore I want to filter out AR Unbilled.

The standard A/R Aging report only uses the default A/R account in QBO, tina-segal-dss-s.

This is why there's no option to add another filter for account. Any other transactions that are not using the default account will not show in the report as well.

Since you're manually recording your sales transactions using a customized account, you can run the Transaction Detail by Account report. then, group it by customer or period (week, month, or year). Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and type in Transaction Detail by Account in the Search bar.
  2. Click the drop-down list for Group by and select Account or a period.

You can also export the report to Excel so you can more filter or sort them out even more. Just click the Export icon in the upper-right hand corner of the report.
