Is there a way to run a P/L report comparing the same month over multiple (more than 2) years, e.g. May of 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021...?

Like many businesses, ours is cyclical throughout the year.  April is always slow, August is always busy, etc.  So to track sales for one month over several years would be very useful, I would use it every month.  I can do it for the same month 2 years at a time on a P/L report, but cannot do anything further than that, other than having to painstakingly pull multiple reports.

Hello there, proskeod.

I understand that you need to pull up reports for specific years. When running a Profit and Loss report it will show the current year-to-date and the same period last year. You can change the length of time and dates as needed.

With this, I'd suggest sharing this idea with our product developer team. This way, they'll know how useful this feature is for your business and consider this in future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account.
  2. Go to the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Hit Next.

Once done, your valuable suggestion goes to our designated team to help improve your QBO experience. You can track your requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

For now, you can run separate reports for the years you want to compare. Alternatively, export the report to Excel then remove the columns (years) you don't need to review. For more details, see this link: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.

Drop me a comment below if you have any other questions related to the reports. I'll be more than happy to help. Wishing you a good one.

@proskeod

Run a P&L report by month (under 'Display columns by', choose Months) over as many years as you want.  Granted, this will show you every month over the time period of the report, but then you can scroll left and right to see each month for the last 10 years without having to run multiple reports.
