Just taken out subscription but the company I purchased from is 'owning' the subscription and is listed as my accountant!!!!

They are saying they HAVE to own the subscription and a complete stranger in their company (INTUIT)  is listed as my accountant and they can therefore access my quickbooks account.

Is this normal?

Hello,

If you just signed up for an account, you should be setup as the Master Admin.  No employee of Intuit would own the company file or required to be listed as a user.

Are you able to log into the company file? Can you post a screenshot of the accountant user screen?  How did you sign up for this account and contact this company?

Hi

When I go on to the account subscriptions, it says to 'email your accountant' which is this chap from Kenya quickbooks.

When I try to remove him as  my accountant, I get a pop up as attached.

I've had an email reply as follows:

Please note that Interactive Technology Limited is the local QBRN – QuickBooks Business Partner.

We are the local partner, support centre and authorised distributor for the region.

Hence, – the QB online account is registered in the directors name – “Nikunj Shah” and this will show up as your accountant and company responsible for your subscription and local payment options.

This is the way the online system has been designed and works. Similarly, QB Advisors in the UK / USA/ Australia / India will have their name showing at the Accountant for their clients.

If we remove you from our account – the following will be resultant:

  1. The billing will be done directly to you and you will have to pay via credit card to Intuit USA / UK direct.
  2. We can remove ourselves as your accountant and form our system – this will mean that from 2nd month you will pay the full subscription directly to Intuit – to keep the account active.
  3. You will loose the initial 30% discount for 6 months – as this is a local offer.
  4. We will also be able to refund you for 11 months – should you choose to go for direct billing.

Re: Just taken out subscription but the company I purchased from is 'owning' the subscription and is listed as my accountant!!!!

Hello,

It sounds like this is an accounting firm that setup your QuickBooks account for you at a discount.  They are being billed and then pass on their own billing to you as a client.  They are NOT actual employees of Intuit.  They are an accounting firm running their own business with their clients on QuickBooks.

They can still be listed as the accountants but YOU should be the Master Admin.  Keep in mind if you want to keep them as accountants they WILL have access to your QuickBooks file.

If you do NOT want to keep them as accountants, you can follow their instructions and they will remove you from wholesale billing under their company and you will be billed directly by Intuit.  Once that happens you can remove them as accountants

Please see the following links for some background on what it sounds like is going on.
