Maximum Characters for Account Number field

Hello -

I just created, or rather modified, an account number for one of our asset accounts. I saw the field maximum is 7 characters, but I changed the account number to 101-1201-0110 to be able to add some depth to both the chart of accounts and reporting. It seems to have taken when I updated it. So why would the maximum be 7 if this seems to work? I ran some asset reports and the updated account number shows there.

Can you explain what I'm missing?

Thanks,

Paige Davis

Yes, you're right. The ideal limit for account numbers characters are 7, since you were able to add more, you can still use it for now.
