money transferred to wrong account

My husband physically deposited money into the business account. I from my computer logged into the bank account to make a transfer tp payroll but I accidentally transfered the money to personal. I can see all our bank accounts online. How do I record in QB so it shows that the money isn't being funded from personal

money transferred to wrong account

Hi there, SuzyQ7,

If your bank is connected to QuickBooks, the money will show that it's being transferred to the personal account. In this case, you'll have to create a bank transfer to match it to the downloaded transaction.

Here's how To record a Bank Transfer: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1146103

Once it's done, you can match the bank transfer to the downloaded transaction. Let me provide the step:

1.    Click Banking on the left panel.
2.    Make sure to select the correct bank from the Bank and Credit Cards dropdown menu.
3.    In the For Review tab, locate the deposit, then click it to expand.
4.    Click Find match.
5.    Select All from the Show dropdown menu, then set the From and To dates.
6.    Select the transfer.
7.    Click Save.

If what you meant is you don't want the money to show that it was transferred from payroll to the personal account, you'll have to exclude it. Then, create a bank deposit to record that the money came from the business account.

If you're referring to something else or you have additional questions, you can contact me directly.

Hey, @TKVeige

Congrats on making your first post here in the Community. All you'd need to do is follow the steps that my colleague provided above. Just make sure that the business account is connected to QuickBooks Online

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Have a great day!

My personal account is not connected with quickbooks - only my business account.  How do I categorize the dollars received and then how do I categorized the dollars transfer out of the business account and into my personal account?

I'll help with your banking transaction, TKVeige.

Is the personal account added in your Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Online? If so,you can use the Bank Transfer function to move the amount from the business to the personal account.

If it's not added in QBO at all, you can exclude the transaction since it's not supposed to be part of the business account. Once excluded, it will no longer show up in the For Review tab and will not be added in your check register.

Here's how to exclude a transaction:

  1. Look for the transaction in the For Review tab of your Online Banking.
  2. Check the box before it.
  3. Click the drop-down for Batch actions, then click Exclude Selected.

Let me know if you need anything else.
