multi-step authentification

I am trying to set up multi-step authentification. The system responds with message that for my country code (+31) sms is not supported. Also trying to have my phone number verified fails fo the same reason. Is there another way to set  up 2 factor authentication e.g. by using an Authenticator App on my phone?

multi-step authentification

Hi there, guus.

When setting up multi-step authentication, the system will prompt that your country code sms is not supported, if you're using a different country code where your QuickBooks account registered.

I suggest using the same country code so you can proceed in setting up multi-step authentification.

However, If you don't want to use the area code where your QuickBooks registered, I recommend going to the Apps menu or QuickBooks App Center. From there, you can look for a third-party app that integrates with QBO and help you setting up authentification in your account.

Here's how:

1. Click Apps in the left navigation menu.

2. Click the Browse Category drop-down menu, select Data Sync.

3. Select the app you want to integrate.

4. Click Get App Now and complete the following on-screen instructions.

Please check this article how Intuit is committed to securing your information by providing advanced security tools and systems: Verify your account with multi-factor authentication.

Thanks,

You confirmed the behaviour.

Since the people using QBO in our (small) organisation are located in different countries, it won't be possible to follow your first recommendation.

It won't change your recommendation:  is there a logical reason why this 'restriction' is placed on the security feature. The requirement to have the countries for registration and an individual user be identical does not seem to add anything from a 2FA point of view.

Anyway, thanks for quick response

Thanks for getting back to us, @guus.

The development of this security feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO) comes from users' recommendations. While the requirement to have the countries for registration and an individual user still needs to be identical, rest assured that I'll pass along your suggestion to our Product Developers. They're always looking for ideas to consider on how to improve QBO.

In the meantime, I recommend visiting our Blog site. This is where we share recent happenings and future developments, such as updates to newly added features.

Just in case, I'll add this article for future reference: Verify your account with multi-factor authentication.

Please know that I'm only a few clicks away if you have any other issues or concerns. I'll be more than willing to assist. Have a great rest of the day!

You're absolutely right. I found the response not very helpful. However I managed to find my way around it.

Go to https://accounts.intuit.com/app/account-manager.
In the Sign in & Security section, click the Two Step Verfication Option, there you will be able to select any country code to enter your number and get sms verification.

Apparently the option is turned on and can not be turned off.

I hope that helps.

Regards
