my 1Q estimated federal tax payment not in estimated totals for year end. It's in the transaction ledger in Jan. Even adding manually will not show. Help?

Let's follow the steps below to make sure your first quarter estimated federal tax payment is accurately reflected in the year-end estimated totals, Pplof.

First, confirm that the payment was successfully made and processed by the IRS. You can do this by logging into your IRS account. Once you've confirmed the payment, double-check that the transaction was correctly entered into QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). Ensure that the payment was categorized correctly and tagged as a tax payment.

If, after reviewing and categorizing, the tax payment still isn't showing in the year-end totals, it could be a browser-related issue. Try accessing your account in a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't save browsing history, which could be causing the problem. Here are the shortcuts for common browsers:

  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift +N

If this works, clear the cache of your regular browser to remove piled-up data. If the problem persists, consider using another supported browser or device, as the current one you are using may have a temporary issue with the program.

Additionally, if you'd like to learn more about preparing to file your taxes using QBSE, feel free to check out this article: Get ready to file taxes on self-employed income.
