My custom report shows unpaid transaactions by customer. Amount for each transaction is the full amount, not the open balance. Can I add the open balance to the report?

The amout shown for each transaction is the original invoice amount, not the unpaid amount. (after partial payment for example).  I want to see jthe open balance - what is still owed.  Can I add the open balance field, used in standard AP report, to my custom report. I don't see it as a choice.

Yes, you can still add the Open Balance column on the report. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Custom reports.
  3. Click the name of the report and hit the Customize button in the upper-right corner.
  4. Tick the Open Balance box. Then, Run report.
  5. Click the Save customization. Update the details ) if necessary.
  6. Then, Save.

 

Since you want to generate unpaid transactions by your customer, you can pull up the Transaction List by Customer Report.

 

  1. Go to the Reports menu and search Transaction List by Customer Report.
  2. Click Customize. In the Filter section, tick the A/R Paid box and choose All.
  3. Select Transaction Type and choose Invoice.
  4. Include all the details you need.
  5. Make sure your reporting date is set correctly.
  6. Click Run report to reflect the changes.

 

You can then save this report as your custom report.
