Can you share screenshot of the message? Why did you need to remote to other machine to access QB Online?

Let me help you get through with this error, @seaviewm.

 

There are the things you're required to do in accessing QuickBooks Desktop remotely to a host or server computer.

 

 

Once done, you'll have to install the QuickBooks Database Manager on your remote computer for multi-user access configuration. Here's how:

 

  1. Download & Install QuickBooks Desktop on the main computer.
  2. Go to the File menu then choose Switch to Multi-user Mode.
  3. Choose Yes in the Multi-user hosting setup required window.
  4. Click OK on the Multi-user setup information window.
  5.  Add the necessary users by going to Company and selecting Users. Then Set up Users and Roles and select New.
