My free trial expired, and it will not let me add an accountant user to transfer the account to and reactivate

You'll need to reactivate your account first before you can add an accountant and transfer the account. Below are the steps to complete the process.

 

To resubscribe, here's how:

 

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Settings ⚙ at the top.
  3. Under Your Company, choose Account and Settings
  4. Select Billing & Subscription, then Resubscribe and enter the updated billing information.
  5. Select Subscribe.

After reactivating the account, see the steps to add an accountant in this article: Invite or remove an accountant. Once done, you can transfer data by following the steps in the following articles:

If you can't resubscribe from the Billings & Subscription tab, you will need to call them to activate the account, even if it's temporarily. It also depends on when was the trial period expired.
