Problems with 2020 QB Desktop

Anyone else having problems with quickbooks online crashing after updating?  It seems to only be on our computers that have 2021 QB installed.

Some possible reasons why QuickBooks Desktop crashes. It could be that the QBWUSER.INI file. is missing or damaged, the program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation may be damaged, corrupt hard drive, or a damaged windows operating system.


We can run the Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix this. To guide you further, you can follow the steps below:


  1. Close QBDT, then download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file.
  2. Once done, open the file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe) and follow the on-screen instruction to install.
  3. After that, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  4. Select Program Problems.
  5. Then, click Quick Fix my Program.
  6. Restart and re-open your company file.

Problems with 2020 QB Desktop

I'm on a Mac and using 2021 desktop. Everytime I create a new item, the second I start typing the item name it crashes. I tried re-installing, I repaired my company file. I can't run the hub tool because I'm on a mac. How do I fix this?? I haven't been able to create new items in a couple weeks and I NEED to for my business.

Since you've already tried some of our basic troubleshooting steps, I recommend contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll be able to use a screen share to walk you through some additional steps. Here's how: 


  1. Go to the Help menu. 
  2. Pick QuickBooks Desktop Help
  3. Press the Contact Us hyperlink. 
  4. Give a brief description of the problem and hit Continue
  5. Scroll down and select to Get a callback

Problems with 2020 QB Desktop

 This appears to be a problem stemming from a recent update released by Quickbooks.

My post is to help others that are having the same issue with QB 2020 desktop.

The file I uploaded is from Right Networks, our cloud based tech support. They will be contacting Quickbooks to report this problem. Right Networks states Quickbooks will need correct the issue and release an update in order to fix this issue. In the meantime it is causing problems now with accountants copies and our clients are also having problems with their QB files as well.
