Join nowAny user with limited permission for QBES 2022 as of Jan 3 cannot logon without assistance from IT. The software must be operated with Admin (local pc permissions) to open up and login. If a user has QB permissions for sensitive financial information their user profile is fine. Some companies need to limit permissions that's why they buy expensive software like Enterprise, but now it seems this is no longer supported.
When any user with limited permissions is in a section of the software at the same time as a user with unlimited permissions the user with limited permission is booted and the software crashes. We input the reason and our email address with no response from Intuit.
Users on the network can only logon with elevated desktop permission running the software as an Admin for the CPU they are using. This works until they experience a conflict with a user with unlimited permission then they are booted. The system crashes and they have to put in a call to IT to log back in to Enterprise 2022.
The experience is the same with any user on any machine on the network to include the server.
Calls to Intuit result in a return calls from people who did not speak English and decline to help because they say the matter is too complicated for them to be of any assistance. We've made 8 attempts to contact Intuit on this matter. The first person told us the user profiles were damaged because users were exiting the software by selecting the option "File -> Exit". She said to build new users and have them exit the software by selecting the options "File-> close company-> exit" . We did that, attempted to log back on and the system crashed at the same time the phone line went dead. They know this issue is not resolved and decline to assist or support.
6 additional calls for assistance where made and each call received a call back message saying we were being connected to a tech, followed by nothing until the phone line went dead.
The 8th and final call resulted in a call from a tech from overseas who could not form a sentence or ask a question but she did say the matter was too complicated.
Jan can be like that but for now I would not recommend that any company upgrade to Enterprise 2022 until Intuit has the resources to fix or support the software. That clearly is not today.
In addition to this matter the report for Summarizing payroll data in excel fails while Intuit advises they don't support those reports any longer, That issue took 20 hours of troubleshooting before they took this position.
If anyone in the community has overcome these challenges I would love to know how.
you can reach me on my cell [Phone number removed] and I can pay for the engagement for someone with the correct credentials. Hopefully someone with an Advanced certification like myself.
This is not the kind of service we want you to experience while using QuickBooks, Lawrence_Layman.
The following are some reasons for QuickBooks multi-user mode not working:
To resolve this, here are some troubleshooting steps that we can perform:
First, check the folder permissions on your server computer, so we can make sure that the folder holding your company files has permission to be on your network.
Second, make sure that the QuickBooks Database Server Manager is installed on your server computer. This way, your company files will be shared with other computers over your network.
Next, set the Windows admin rights. This will let you change your firewall settings and folder permissions.
Then, scan your folder using the Database Server Manager to access your file over the network.
Lastly, turn on hosting on your server computer:

I've also added an article that'll help you learn the task you can perform when switched to single or multi-user mode: Features available and tasks you can perform in single or multi-user mode.
Stay in touch with on how everything goes, @Lawrence_Layman. I'll be around to help. Stay safe!
Yes most of the networking steps were checked before reaching out for assistance. The upgrade from Enterprise 2019 to 2022 seemed flawless for months until this issue in late December. What is strange is that it is specific to the QB user. On the same workstation under the same Windows profile two different users have an entirely different experience. The user with restricted QB permissions get's booted unless a QB user with elevated permissions logs on the QB first. After the user with lower permissions can logon, but not before.
Do you still think we should revisit the networking piece or perhaps do a reinstall?
I know this hasn't been easy for you, Lawrence_Layman.
Before reinstalling QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Enterprise 2022, I'll go over some extra troubleshooting measures.

Did you resolve your multi-user issues? We are scheduled for upgrade from Pro 19 to Enterprise 22 next week, and I do not want to have any unpleasant surprises. Thank you!
@Janetccc Did you end up upgrading? We upgraded from 2021 to 2022 Enterprise and have severe slowness issues when users open up the files. 5 minute or 10 minute wait from entering QB User ID and password to it finally letting people in. We cannot determine a cause. QB forums just have Mods posting the same worthless responses of un-install, re-install, file doctor, installation repair, blah blah, but nothing fixes it.
Has the problem from 2021 Version been fixed where the item receipts and bill entry can be posted against open purchase orders in 2023 version.
We have been addressing this issue for 2 years now and as of the middle of 2022, the error had not been fixed like all the other issues. Always working on it but never fixing anything?
Your 2023 software is worthless if you won't fix the ongoing issues.
