QB Support has reached a new level of LOW

All I need to do is delete an account I created in error - it has no data and I cancelled it within minutes of creating it but it still shows up on my list of accounts when I log in.  I have spent HOURS today trying to delete it; on chat THREE times to no avail.  I manage five different QB accounts for five different companies and am ready to close them all.

I tried adding a new user and making that fake user the Primary Admin but even that didn't work.  It really shouldn't be that hard.

I have a way to remove the canceled account from your list, @GH29. I'm determined to improve your impression of our support.

I appreciate all your efforts to delete the incorrect account. I'll share some information and solutions about deleting the QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. Thus, you can only see the active companies in the list.

All canceled QBO accounts (paid or test subscription) will remain on the lists within one year. This allows you to obtain your reports and other information for future use.

To remove this from the list, I'd recommend changing the Email address or User ID to the active accounts. We need change the active account credentials as we cannot change the canceled subscription information in your end.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Open the account and go to the Gear icon.
  2. Click the Manage your Intuit Account hyperlink.
  3. Choose the Sign-in & security tab.
  4. Select User ID and Email Address one at a time and modify them.
  5. Review your list once done.

If you don't want to do this, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Care Team again. They have an option to change your canceled company's email address. This way, it will delete from the list. Make sure to call them within business hours to ensure we cater to your concern promptly.

I don't want to remove/change my main log-in - I just need to delete one of the accounts that shows up - so your instructions are not an option.

I spent HOURS today on chat with two or three customer service rep who assured me that if I just added another user I could shift myself away from the primary admin and delete myself as a user that I no longer want to show up.  But when I do that (and I've done it with TWO different new users) I continually get an error message when attempting to accept the new primary user.

It's beyond frustrating.

After several days,  more hours than I can count of Chat, Phone calls, screen sharing, I can't do it.  I am closing all five of my QB accounts and posting to social media and anyone else who will listen that any other financial software would be preferable.

I created an account earlier in the week that has never been used, has not data, I've cancelled the subscription and yet when I log into my Intuit Account it is listed with my others and I can't get rid of it.  I am told it will drop off in a YEAR.  Really? A Year.  Nope.  I've done every trick that repliers have sent to me - all to no avail.  The fact that customer service will not just remove the account is beyond belief.  Why?  It's never been used.  There's no data there?  Please tell me why>

Thank you for taking the time to post a reply, @GH29. I will share some details about this issue.

I understand your situation is different, and being able to completely remove the canceled company would be beneficial. Companies are kept on the inactive company list for 12 months after their cancelation, after which they are completely removed from our system. However, we're unable to remove it from the list as of this time.

You're also welcome to submit feedback about this, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then, click Next to submit feedback.

You can visit our QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website to track the status of your submitted feedback.

I'm also adding this article in case you'll need more insights in managing your QuickBooks account: Account Management.
