QBO conversion to QBD

Hi @Berna!

Let me help clarify what happens with your QBO file when you convert to QBDT.

When you export your data from QBO to QBDT, the original QBO file remains 100% intact. The process of export doesn’t remove any data from your original file. If you were to keep your QBO subscription, it would look and function as usual. Obviously, if you are working in that company file, any added information including deposits, customers, invoices, etc., would not automatically export over to the QBDT file, you would need to manually update QBDT with the new information, or vice versa. Does this make sense?

I’ll keep an eye out for a reply from you just in case you have additional questions. Feel free to ask, I’m here!

Good day, @Berna. I hope you're doing fine today.

Let me provide some information about converting QuickBooks Online file to Desktop.

Things will look different after you move your data from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop. I encourage you to check this to learn more about what data does and doesn't export from QuickBooks Online.

If you wish to convert your data from Online to Desktop, I suggest checking out this article: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop. This covers the detailed steps from preparing until moving your file from one version to another.

For additional information, feel free to check out this article: Learn about converting from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

Please know that I'm just a reply away if you have any other concerns about QuickBooks. I'll be around to lend a helping hand. Stay safe and have a wonderful Tuesday.

QBO conversion to QBD

Good morning!

Thank you for your response.  My question remains unanswered....does the current QBO file remain intact after the conversion to QBD as long as we continue to pay the subscription?.  The goal is to create a desktop archive file with the current sole prop QBO file while continuing to use it until I set up the new corporate QBO file.

Thank you!
