Background on report screens now black

Since yesterday, when I run a report all of the financial data is blacked out.  If I hover my cursor over the item I can read it, but this is really inconvenient.  How can I change it back to black on white background?

This happens often in desktop versions and hits all activity and is related to some small files that do not get properly updated but you indicated you are using Online.

Are you using the desktop app for online? Uninstall and reinstall.

If not, can you log in using an incognito browser window and it corrects? Then you need to clear out history in your browser

I am having the same problem.  However, I am using quickbooks desktop.  My computer is unstable at the moment so I don't want to shut it off.  How can I fix this problem??

I will make sure this gets sorted out,  @Lisa70.

When your busy managing your business, a black screen in the report page is the last thing you should deal with. Let’s get started!

One possible reason you’re getting black screen on your reports page is due to a damaged QBW.ini file. Let’s apply the following troubleshooting steps to resolve this display issue.

  1. Turn off and Turn on your computer.
  2. Make sure your QuickBooks Desktop is closed properly.
    1. Go to the Windows Start button.
    2. Type taskmagr on the search bar.
    3. Press Enter.
    4. Select the Processes tab.
    5. For Windows 10: If it does not show tabs, choose the More Details drop-down.
    6. Select QuickBooks (32-bit) or QBW32.exe then select End Process or End Task.
      • If you do not find any instances of QBW32.exe or QuickBooks (32-bit), then QuickBooks have been closed properly.
  3. Run reboot.bat to re-register your QuickBooks
  4. Ensure your video card drivers updated to the latest release.
    1. Open the Run command, press Windows key+R.
    2. Enter dxdiag then press Enter.
    3. Chose Display 1.
    4. Take note of what the Manufacturer/Model is.
    5. Download the necessary updates.
  5. Change your Windows theme to Basic
    1. Right-click anywhere on your Desktop then select Personalize.
    2. Choose one of the Windows Basic Themes.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Open QuickBooks.
  6. Edit the QBW.ini file
    1. Close QuickBooks.
    2. Press the Windows button.
    3. Choose and paste the correct file path on the search bar:
      • Enterprise Solutions 19.0  C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 19.0\QBW.ini
      • Enterprise Solutions 18.0  C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 18.0\QBW.ini
      • Enterprise Solutions 17.0  C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 17.0\QBW.in
      • Enterprise Solutions 16.0  C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 16.0\QBW.ini
    4. Go to the end of the file, then copy and paste the following text into the file:[COLORS]  Classic=0
    5. Save the QBW.ini file.
    6. Open QuickBooks.

If the issue persists, I’d recommend reaching out to Customer Care team. A specialist will be able to look up your account securely and further assist you via remote access.
