Delete unused company

How do i delete an unused company and transfer my subscription to another?

 

I set up a trial with Quickbooks online, and entered company information etc.  I then decided to sign up for a year at a discounted rate, but this has opened a second company which does not have any information on.  How do i transfer my subscription to the trial company, and delete the unused company?

Delete unused company

The only way to do that is to export it to desktop and import it to qbo.  But you would need the desktop program or know someone who does to do that.  You can also download it for free here in the conversion page and use that.

Hello I am having a problem with my qbooks ii got a new computer and downloaded my q books via download on it , when I try to look in it tells me another business file is open and it needs to be cosed to open a new one , I don't want to open a new one I want to continue to use my account on another or my new computer

Let's do a wildcard search to find your current company file, Nasfan1.

 

Simply type one of the following into the search bar in the Start Menu. Make sure to include the asterisk (*) before the extension type to ensure the search works correctly.

  • *.qbw (Working Files)
  • *.qbb (Back Up Files)
  • *.qba (Accountants Copy Files)
  • *.qbx (Accountants Transfer Files)
  • *.qby (Accountants Change Files)

The default location for a company files is: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files

I'm having the same issue. I accidentally created TWO companies and I need to delete the ONE I created in error. This is NOT THE DESKTOP version. This is QUICKBOOKS ONLINE. For the life of me, I cannot find a way to DELETE it. This is very frustrating...

Hi Lynda,

 

When you say download the info into QB desktop...I have a friend who downloaded the trial version of desktop (I think). Can it work on a trial desktop version?

 

I encountered the same problem as the user who asked the question.  I have an Essentials online trial subscription and I wanted to upgrade it but QB kept giving an error message.  I then went to pay for the Plus package and it opened a new business,which I dont want.

Thanks for stopping by, yes it will work if you have the trial version from the download link provided in the "solved answer" at the top of the post, I'll also include it here as well. As far as the error message you'r receiving when upgrading, can you be more specific, what is the error saying exactly? That way I can help you to the best of my ability.

Hi Nick, the error message was Code 81622 (or something like that). I have decided to eventually cancel my Essentials subscription and just start afresh with the Plus subscription.  I'll take the Essentials as a trial run for me to practice entering items in QB, so no further help needed at this point.  Thanks.
