Have QB Pro 2019, Can oen one company fine but when trying to open my home checking I get a red/black error screen

I have QB Pro 2019 and have my home checking accounts and a commercial property business on the same computer program.   I can open one and do all I need with no problems but when trying to log into the home account, I get locked out.

We have a number of solutions regarding this matter, Steve2370.

There's a possibility that the company file you're trying to open is damaged. Before we do any troubleshooting steps, I'd recommend updating your QuickBooks to the latest release version. This usually fix any bugs or issues experienced on the earlier releases.

If the same issue occurs, I'd recommend following Step 2-9 of this article: What to do if you can't open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.

These steps usually fix any data damage that we are experiencing.

If you have a specific error message or code, you can look for it in these articles and follow the suggested resolutions:

Let us know how this goes so we can further assist you in opening your company file.

I went through the steps 2-9.  Skipping the steps that relate to servers and networks since my computer is a home computer not networked.  Still have a problem.   I can open QuickBooks fine and access one "Company" just fine.  The other "Company" happens to be my home checking account and that is the one I cannot access.

Since one of the error codes attached to the "Unrecoverable Error screen that I get when trying to open the home checking refers to an ND file, I was very careful to do the steps in the sequence related to .TLG and .ND file extensions to the .QBW files.  (Renaming to old, etc) .

Even tried to restore to a previous backup file and that did not work either.  I did not think loading onto another computer was necessary since I can open QB with the business company just fine on this computer.

Will try a Chat with QB on Monday.

I can open one of the "Companie" in QB fine.  Trying to open the other "Company" creates the problem of the "Unrecoverable Error"  20081  93714.  It seems to have an issue with the .ND file.  I have taken the steps in the article suggested on steps 2-9 and paid particular attention to the steps regarding .TLG and .ND files.  It still will not open.

Plan on spending some time on Chat directly with QB on Monday.

Hi there, @walla2idoc.

What you can do is to verify where you're company file is located. Rebooting your computer can also help resolve this problem.

If the steps will not resolve the problem, let’s run the Verify/Rebuild Utility Tools which often detects and resolve any data issues within the company file. Follow the steps below:

To run the verify utility:

  1. From the File menu, click on Utilities.
  2. Select Verify Data.

To run the rebuild utility:

  1. From the File menu, click on Utilities.
  2. Select Rebuild Data.

For detailed steps, go through this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QBDT. If you'd still experience the same thing, try running QuickBooks Installation Diagnostic Tool to identify and fix a variety of errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

Here's how:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Install DiagnosticTool.
  2. Save the file on your local Desktop.
  3. To run the tool, close any open programs.
  4. Then, restart your computer.

In case the above troubleshooting steps don't work, try the following solutions 2-4 outlined in this article: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1460106.
