Let me walk you through on how you can run the profit and loss report in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), @jonesdorothy08.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and select Profit and loss.
  2. Click View, then select the amount of the category to view its transactions.

You will also have the option to modify this report by clicking the Business, Account, and Dates drop-down.

Let's run some troubleshooting steps to determine why you don't have the Reports tab, Cameron2120.

There are times that an issue like this occurs when we encounter a browser-related issue. We can fix this by running some basic troubleshooting steps.

To start with, let's open QuickBooks on an incognito window. This is where we can identify any browser-related issue. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to open one:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

If you can see the Reports tab, we can go back to a regular browser and clear its cache. A piled cache can also be the reason for some unexpected issues on the opened pages like QuickBooks.

You can also switch to a different supported browser like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.

Afterward, you're good to run the Profit and Loss report.

You can also browse this article in case you want to download or print the report: Get reports in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Hi there! I cannot figure out how to modify the profit and loss report to show both my business and personal expenses/income. Is there a way to do that, or is the profit and loss report only for business expenses/income?

Hello there, millicent_louise.

The Profit and Loss report is used to monitor business activity and shows your company's income and expenses during a particular period. With that, you're correct that the income statement can only generate both business and personal expenses/income.

Also, if you want to download it as PDF, print or, email it to someone. You'll only have to click the drop-down arrow next to View. Let's take a look at the sample screenshot below:
